HISTORICAL & HERITAGE PROJECTS

As the premier historical research agency in Ireland Eneclann has been commissioned to participate in a variety of projects. We have experience and expertise in most matters relating to history and heritage in Ireland. The following are some examples of projects we have worked on in the past.

Belvedere Book

The Board of Management of Belvedere College in Dublin commissioned Eneclann to create a manuscript as a testament to the legacy of the Jesuit priests to Belvedere since 1832. The purpose was to create a manuscript book suitable for presentation and ultimately for long-term preservation in an archive. The result is a magnificent manuscript book hand bound in fine leather, which draws on the finest traditions of calligraphy and bookbinding in Ireland. more

Gonzaga College History

In 2000 Eneclann was commissioned to research the History of Gonzaga College for the schools 50th anniversary.

The result was a published history of the college -

Irish Genealogy Project

Eneclann conducted an audit of the accuracy of the database of 15 million records compiled by the Irish Genealogical Project. IGL Ltd (A Semi-State agency set up to promote the genealogy industry in Ireland).

This involved the formulation of a mathematically sound process for taking and analysing samples of data from 32 Heritage Centres throughout Ireland. Eneclann had teams working in the National Library as well as on site at the centres.

Ballymun Regeneration Project

In 2000 the Ballymun Regeneration Project commissioned an extensive historical research of Ballymun and the surrounding area. This research stretched from the beginning of the seventeenth century right through the building of the Ballymun Estate in the 1960s, up to 1997 and the beginning of the re-development. The resulting History of Ballymun, in two volumes, is available in the Dublin City Library and the Ballymun Library.

Running alongside this project was an Oral History Project which Eneclann managed in conjunction with Ballymun Regeneration Ltd. This involved interviewing a large number of people who had lived in Ballymun from the time of the development in the 1960s. This oral history is now available at the Ballymun Community Archive.
